Ward 17 and Ward 18 (Child Assessment Unit)

Ward seventeen is a twenty five bedded paediatric ward that provides in-patient care for both medical and surgical patients and includes one short term high dependency/intensive care cot. There is a designated teenage room and play area. There is also a designated four bedded bay for elective surgical cases.

Ward 18 is a Children's Assessment Unit (CAU) where emergency referrals, urgent out-patients and planned medical day cases are seen. This area has the school room and large play area.

There is a community paediatric nursing team led by Angie Walker which also provides a palliative care service.

An Audiology Service is provided from Monkgate Health Centre and the Children's Centre at York Hospital.
