Service Summary

Laboratory Medicine consists of five departments:

Clinical Biochemistry
Haematology (Immunology and Blood Transfusion)
Microbiology
Cytology (North Yorkshire Cervical Cytology Screening Service)
Histopathology

Each department is involved in the scientific study of disease. Diagnosis and monitoring form an important part of the work undertaken by the departments.
