Service Summary

There are 11 Orthopaedic Surgeons working across three wards, main theatres and day theatres and an out-patient clinic at York Hospital. They carry out a variety of surgical procedures including:-

• total hip and knee replacements

• arthroscopies

• osteotomies

• arthrodesis

• carpel tunnel

• trigger fingers

• arthroscopic sub-decompression

The Orthopaedic Out-patient Clinic (including Orthotics) is situated on the ground floor of York Hospital, adjacent to the Emergency Department.

The Orthopaedic wards are Wards 28 and 29.

Our surgeons and junior medical staff also provide care to Ward 26, which is the hip fracture unit, caring for adult patients of all ages who have fractured their hip. Ward 26 is managed by Medicine for the Elderly. All three wards are located on the 2nd Floor towards the South of the hospital.
