 Laboratory Medicine

Laboratory Medicine consists of five departments:

  • Clinical Biochemistry

  • Haematology (Immunology and Blood Transfusion)

  • Microbiology

  • Cytology (North Yorkshire Cervical Cytology Screening Service)

  • Histopathology

Each department is involved in the scientific study of disease. Diagnosis and monitoring form an important part of the work undertaken by the departments.
