Knit and Natter group raise £1400 for the Lots of Cots Appeal

Knit and natter

The Knit and Natter group from Fairfax Court in Acomb spent 6 months trying to raise £1355 to buy a new cot for the Maternity Unit at York Hospital. The target has now been exceeded so a new cot can now be bought.

The group raised the money by holding a raffle and cake stall at Fairfax Court and they also organised a charity stall at the hospital where a number of items were available to buy throughout the day. These included knitted teddies, hats, booties, mittens, babies/children's cardigans and jumpers, cushion covers, quilted photo frames, ladies aprons, books and jewellery.

The group also knitted a number of baby hats for SCBU. Each time £1 was donated on the stall, a hat was given to the unit.

The Lots of Cots Appeal is aiming to raise enough money to replace all 36 cots in our Maternity Unit which cost £1355 each. The Knit and Natter group raised enough money to purchase the 23rd cot.

Lucy Watson, Fundraising Manager at the York Teaching Hospital Charity said, "We are so grateful to the Knit and Natter group for all their effort to raise enough money to fund another one of the cots we need for our Maternity Unit. Many thanks to the group for their fantastic support and generosity."
