The role of the Board of Directors is to manage the Trust by:
setting the overall strategic direction of the Trust, within the context of NHS priorities
regularly monitoring our performance against objectives
providing effective financial stewardship through value for money, financial control and financial planning.
The Board of Directors comprises the Chairman and Chief Executive, the Executive Directors and Non-Executive Directors.
The Board of Directors will hold Board meetings in public from 24 April 2013. This means that anyone is welcome to attend the meeting as an observer.
The Board will meet in public ten times a year as follows:

The meetings will last approximately 2.5 hours.
Members of the public will be able to access the agenda and papers here prior to the meeting. There will be a small number of additional copies printed and available at the meeting.

Alternatively questions can be asked in advance of Council of Governors meetings, and wherever possible a response to these questions will be given at the Council of Governors meeting, which is held in public, and included in the meeting minutes.
This meets once a year, to agree the remuneration of the Chief Executive and Directors
This is a statutory sub-committee of the Board of Directors. It is responsible for overseeing risks and internal controls at the Trust affecting financial and all other aspects of the Trust's business. Meetings are held around five times each year and are attended by the finance director, deputy chief executive, internal and external auditors.
