A range of gynaecology services are provided at the hospital, in the following areas:
This is a 24 bedded women's health inpatient ward, that specialises in Gynaecology and Breast Surgery Patients. The Ward is located on the Ground floor, at the South end of York Hospital. G1 is co-located with the Early Pregnancy Assessment Day Service (EPADS) and the Colposcopy suite.
EPADS (early pregnancy assessment day service) provides assessment and treatment for pregnant women between 6 and 16 weeks gestation. Women are referred by a health care professional e.g. a GP or midwife to a clinic setting that has access to scanning facilities.
An outpatient facility for gynaecology, specific to the needs of ladies attending for outpatient treatments following abnormal cervical cytology. The Colposcopy suite is also used to undertake a number of gynaecology outpatient clinics and a weekly gynaecology oncology clinic.
This is a shared care service with Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. There is a weekly gynaecology oncology clinic which is attended by a visiting specialist gynaecology oncologist from Leeds. There is also a weekly gynaecology oncology multi-disciplinary team meeting. We also have a Gynaecology Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) who provides specialist support, advice and guidance for all gynaecology patients with a diagnosis of cancer.
