Masterchef finalist helps to raise £750 for York Hospital's Intensive Care Unit

Masterchef finalist Sara Danesin Medio took part in a fundraising event at the Bengal Brasserie in Goodramgate to raise money for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at York Hospital which raised £750.

The event took place on Tuesday 12 July where a selection of starters and curries were served to each table and Sara prepared a special dessert for the restaurant using Alphonso mango.

The fundraising event was held in two sittings costing £20 per head, £15 of which went to the ICU. Entertainment also took place on the evening including a live singer, pianist and a raffle.

Iqbal Chowdhury said, "I would like to say a big thank you to Sara for supporting our event in aid of the ICU at York Hospital. I would also like to thank our local customers for coming along and helping us to raise much needed funds for the ICU and to all the businesses who donated a prize for our raffle."

Christine Morris, Matron of the ICU said, "On behalf of the ICU team, I would like to say a big thank you to Sara and the Bengal Brasserie for organising the charity evening in support of the ICU at York Hospital. Everybody had such a great evening and the money raised really will help us to provide the best care possible for our patients. I believe everyone who attended had a great evening."
