Cancer Services

Service Summary

This directorate focuses specifically on the delivery and co-ordination of first class cancer services. We have 2 key roles to play.

Firstly we provide services directly to patients within the specialties of Clinical Haematology, Oncology and Endoscopy. For each of these areas we have a lead clinician and a dedicated team of individuals from within the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) who support them.

Secondly we provide a co-ordination and monitoring function with regards to the latest advances in cancer therapies, in ensuring our services are evaluated appropriately and by providing support to the MDTs in other specialties who care for patients with cancer, including complementary therapies and psycho-oncology.

We also provide services in alliance with Leeds Hospitals and Harrogate.

We also manage the cancer care centre, providing non medical support to patients, relatives and carers affected by cancer. We support a thriving partnership group, the York and District Cancer Partnership with patient/ user representation, carers representatives and Trust Governors.
