Discounted staff bus travel offer (from 30th October 2023)

From Monday 30th October 2023 Trust staff will be able to use the following bus services for work purposes for £1 per journey:

  • All First York bus services (including Park & Ride but not the free University services)
  • The Service 10 in Scarborough (operated by East Yorkshire Buses)

This offer replaces the previous free travel offer that has been in place since June 2023.  The £1 journey fare gives a 50% discount on the standard £2 journey fare and applies to each single journey made.

The offer applies to all timetabled services specified above, seven days a week:

  • York:  The Service 6 connects Osbaldwick to Clifton Moor and picks up / drops off at the Hospital; The Services 1, 5 and 5A pick up / drop on Haxby Road very close to the hospital site.  Many other services operate a short walk from the hospital site.
  • Scarborough:  The Service 10 connects the North and South of Scarborough (Scalby to Cayton) and calls in at the rail station and the hospital en route.

To use the offer staff will need to show the bus driver when boarding a valid Trust ID badge and state where they are travelling to for work (or what work purpose). They can then pay their £1 journey fare either by cash or their preferred contactless method. We advise that staff are mindful of keeping their Trust ID badges safely secured and not on display before / after boarding.
