Corporate Fundraising

If your company, no matter how big or small, would like to support the York Teaching Hospital Charity we would love to hear from you. We have lots of ideas about how your company can get involved with fundraising which we have listed below. To discuss any of the below, please contact our Fundraising Team on 01904 724521 or email charity.fundraising@york.nhs.uk .

Charity of the Year

Choose to support the York Teaching Hospital Charity by choosing us as your charity of the year. Support a local cause that really benefits your customers and staff. Gain positive PR opportunities, increase staff morale and encourage staff team building. Our team can provide you with excellent support, materials and lots of fundraising tips and ideas.

Employee fundraising, be a workplace champion

We can help you put together a fantastic fundraising programme to motivate and build morale amongst your employees. Programmes can range from individual challenges to team challenges, inside or outside the workplace. As a workplace champion, you have our full support in every aspect of your fundraising. It can be a simple as nominating us for Charity of the Year or getting your hand dirty by organising an event and rallying the troops, whatever you choose, we'll be there with you.

Payroll giving

Payroll Giving is quick and easy to set-up and administer. Payroll Giving is a great way for you to demonstrate commitment to the causes that your employees care about. It can also aid retention and recruitment of staff, and enable you to generate a sustainable income stream to charities.

Giving through payroll couldn't be easier and it is also tax-effective too. Donations are deducted from employee salaries before tax which ensures we receive the full amount of their chosen donation at no extra cost to them. Choosing to donate through payroll provides the charity with a regular, reliable income stream that enables us to plan and budget for the future. Please see the table below for examples of how employee pledges are calculated:

Employee pledge Actual cost to a standard rate tax payer -20% Actual cost to a higher rate tax payer -40%
 £5 £4 £3
 £10 £8 £6
 £15 £12 £9

Once your company has a Payroll Giving scheme in place, your employee simply completes a form that they can usually get from the company Payroll Department or Personnel, and fill in details about the charity/ies they would like to support. This is then forwarded on to a Payroll Giving Agency (PGA) to deduct their pre-tax chosen amount from their salary. Their donation is then forwarded monthly to the PGA and they then distribute the gift each month to the charity/ies of their choice.

If your company doesn't already have a Payroll Giving scheme in place, please visit the Payroll Giving Centre's website for more information about setting one up: www.payrollgivingcentre.org.uk.

While contagious viruses are active year-round, winter is a prime time for norovirus, colds, influenza (flu), and other respiratory illnesses.

These infections are highly contagious, so we urge people to stay away unless their visit is absolutely essential to help reduce the spread of infection within our hospitals.

Hospitals are full of sick people, many of them frail and elderly, so bringing germs into a hospital is the worst thing you can do.  We have an active programme of infection prevention but we can’t spot visitors who really shouldn’t be here.  Please stay at home if you’re unwell to help aid the wellbeing and recovery of our patients.
