We have recently purchased two new digital flexible ureterorenoscopes costing £55,000 for the Scarborough Hospital Urology Unit. This has allowed the Unit to double it's operating capacity and treat more patients.
Thanks to our supporters at our 2015 ball, we were able to purchase a SimBaby which is now in use by multi-disciplinary teams in training sessions to prepare them for when a sick baby comes in York Hospital.
Comfort boxes for relatives
Comfort boxes are given to relatives of patients who are nearing the end of their life to help them through the difficult time. Each comfort box contains a cosy blanket, a small bedside lamp, toiletries, bottled water, biscuits, sweets and a meal voucher.
New Nurses Station for York Hospital Children's Ward
A new bright and colourful Nurses Station for Ward 17 which was funded by York Teaching Hospital Charity, Friends of York Hospital and the Purey Cust Trust.
The Cancer Care Centre Garden
£40,000 was spent on creating a quiet outdoor space in the Cancer Care Centre at York Hospital.
The Charity donated over £170,000 towards a new Bereavement Suite at York Hospital.
Parents Accommodation in SCBU
£40,000 was spent to provide accommodation for parents to stay overnight while their child is in SCBU in Scarborough Hospital.
Over the years, the Charity has purchased several Dyson fans across our hospital sites to help cool down patients and staff during the summer months.
A variety of sensory toys were purchased for the Children’s ward and outpatient clinic at Scarborough Hospital.
Media system for dementia patients
This allows dementia patients to view photos of their past, listen to music from their era and create a storybook of their life.
