Nikki Waterhouse Trust donation

York Teaching Hospital Charity has secured a £15,000 donation from the Nikki Waterhouse Trust to pay for the completion of a new sensory room on the Children’s Ward at York Hospital.

The Nikki Waterhouse Trust was set up by friends and colleagues from Hunters Estate Agents in memory of Nicole Waterhouse who was sadly taken in tragic circumstances in 2013.  Nikki loved children and so the trust in her name aims to support children and their families in times of need.  Staff had already raised £1,200 towards the room and this significant donation now means it can be installed this summer.

The money will pay for the complete refurbishment of the current inadequate sensory space, providing a multi-sensory room for the ward which will bring many benefits to children of all ages in York Hospital.  The room will act as a therapeutic area to assist treatment and enabling both physical and mental stimulation.  It will also act as a safe and quiet place for patients and families away from the busy clinical environment.
