Change of Trust name

In 2012 York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust merged with Scarborough and North East Yorkshire Healthcare NHS Trust. This brought Scarborough Hospital, Bridlington Hospital, and a number of community and rehabilitation hospitals under the umbrella of York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

In the years since the merger, the question of changing the Trust’s name has continued to be raised by staff and by some members of our communities. It is increasingly clear that the name of the Trust does not accurately describe what we are as an organisation.

As such, we would like to change our name to:

York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

We believe that the change will send a strong, inclusive message to all of our staff, help us move forward as a single organisation, and better represent the communities we serve, now and in the future.

Changing our name will not impact on the services we currently provide but before making any decision we want to know what our patients, staff, trust members and local people think about the proposed change.

Your views will be used to inform a final recommendation for our Council of Governors and Board of Directors.
