News & media

From Monday 6 April there will be temporary changes to the Haematology and Oncology services at Scarborough and York hospitals.  These decisions have been made on the grounds of patient safety in the current coronavirus pandemic.

Scarborough

If you are currently having anti-cancer treatment (chemotherapy) via The Macmillan Unit at Scarborough Hospital, the service will be relocated to the Mobile Chemotherapy Unit on the Scarborough Hospital car parking bay adjacent to the hospital helipad (grassed area).   The Mobile Chemotherapy Unit offers accommodation separate to the acute hospital site allowing the service to see and treat its patients as safely as possible during the coronavirus pandemic.

Patients should attend the Mobile Chemotherapy Unit on their appointed day and time.  Please be aware you may be contacted to re-arrange your scheduled appointment due to this service change.  If you are no longer able to attend your appointment please call 01904 726516 as normal.

There will be a dedicated blood taking service for Haematology/Oncology patients in the Haworth Unit in the North Wing of the hospital.  Patients can attend Monday, Wednesday and Thursday between 9am-10am and 2pm-4pm every day.

Please attend the Haworth Unit reception and inform the reception staff of your blood test requirement.

There is free parking available directly outside the Mobile Chemotherapy Unit.  If you have to park elsewhere subject to normal hospital parking charges, please present your ticket to the chemotherapy unit staff and they can validate it for free parking.

If you are attending for a blood test, please use the usual visitor and patient parking and again present your ticket to Haworth Unit staff for validation.

York

If you are currently seeing a Haematologist/Oncologist or coming for anti-cancer treatment (chemotherapy) via The Magnolia Centre, the service is relocating to the Nuffield Hospital site.  The Nuffield Hospital offers accommodation separate to the acute hospital site allowing the service to see and treat its patients as safely as possible during the coronavirus pandemic.

Patients should attend the Nuffield Hospital site at their appointed day and time.  If you are no longer able to attend your appointment please call 01904 726516 as normal.

There will be a dedicated blood taking service for Haematology/Oncology patients at the Nuffield Hospital site.  Please attend the Nuffield Hospital reception and inform the reception staff of your blood test requirement.

There is free parking available on the Nuffield Hospital site.

The 24 hour chemotherapy helpline will remain the same and it is important you still make this the first point of contact if you are unwell on anti-cancer treatment.
