New name for hospital trust

The Trust will change its name on 1 April 2021 to York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The name has been changed to better reflect the geographical area covered by the Trust and be more inclusive of all staff.
Approval was given by the Trust Board last year to change the Trust’s name in line with strict NHS guidance.

Chief Executive, Simon Morritt, said: “The need to move forward as a single organisation has come across loud and clear in staff feedback, and there was a specific recommendation that we should change the name of the organisation to be inclusive of all staff.

“The change of name is not diverting funds away from clinical care or from staff wages or recruitment. The majority of the work is to replace the name where it appears digitally. We are also fully committed to delivering the work in the most cost effective way possible and as such we will only replace items as and when needed, for example uniforms.”
