Trust seeks candidate for non-executive director role

A new non-executive director (NED), who is a qualified accountant, is being sought to join the Board of York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Non-executive directors play a critical role in the effective, robust governance of the Trust providing independence of thought, the ability to offer supportive challenge within the Board and a deep commitment to health care and the values of the NHS.

Sue Symington, Chair, York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust explained:  “These are challenging times for the NHS nationally and locally too.  Never has it been more important to recruit first class talent to the Boards of NHS trusts.

“As a qualified accountant, ideal applicants will be able to demonstrate a natural ability to think strategically, be energised by the pace of change within the NHS and be driven by a desire to provide the very best standards of care to our patients and service users.

“Personally, candidates will be able to demonstrate a robust and resilient approach to working life, alongside natural curiosity and highly developed team working skills.”

To apply you must be eligible for membership of the Trust and live within one of the key constituencies of the Trust, i.e. York, Scarborough, Whitby, Bridlington, Selby, Hambleton or Malton and Ryedale.  Applications from out of area candidates will not be considered.

The successful candidate will need to be available approximately five days a month.

Sue added: “Our Trust values diverse perspectives and backgrounds, knowing that diversity drives innovation and performance.  We are committed to growing and maintaining a culture of real inclusion, and actively welcome applications from BAME candidates.”
