The community midwives were offered the opportunity to attend a whole day training session on dealing with obstetric emergencies, specifically in the community setting where they have less resource.
As a result, four of the team who attended went on to develop a bespoke training package to deliver to their colleagues so that everyone can benefit. They have also organised individual equipment bags for each emergency. It includes a crib sheet to allow for more efficient access to exactly what is needed to deal with each scenario should an emergency occur at a homebirth.
