Orthopaedic Physiotherapist, York Hospital

A patient who had been discharged from hospital the previous week and called to say her knee brace had broken. The patient lived in Easingwold so Eddie initially tried to find community therapists who were in the area, or anyone based at St Monica’s Hospital who could help.

Eddie was concerned that her fracture may be at risk so he drove up to the patients home himself to fit a new brace after completing his work on the ward that day. Eddie is praised not only for his care and concern, but the way he prioritised a patient in need, particularly as he lives near Leeds, so this journey was a long way out of his way. He also needed to be home in good time for a personal appointment.
