Art exhibition brings seaside to the hospital
A new art exhibition recently unveiled at York Hospital is bringing a nautical feel to the hospital corridors for patients, staff and visitors to enjoy.
The exhibition, on loan from Staithes Gallery, depicts many familiar and much loved scenes by a variety of artists of the North Yorkshire coastal village of Staithes.
Gill Greaves, Art Officer for York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for people in York to be able to see the quality and variety of art inspired by Staithes and the surrounding area. The area has always been, and still is, a magnet for art and artists so we are very grateful to Staithes Gallery for sharing this with us.”
Al Milnes, owner of Staithes Gallery, said: “We’re delighted to be involved in bringing art to the hospital environment and hope people enjoy the art works on show. People can’t always get to the coast so we though we would bring the seaside into the hospital. It’s also a fantastic opportunity for the artists to be seen by a wider audience.”
The exhibition will be on show until May. Anyone interested in purchasing any of the art work can contact the Gallery by emailing al@staithesgallery.co.uk
