Cancer Information and Support Service reopens after refurbishment

An event has been held today (Friday 18 December) to celebrate the reopening of the Cancer Information and Support Service at Scarborough Hospital.

The Cancer Information and Support Service supports patients and families affected by cancer, it is partially funded by the York Teaching Hospital Charity. Located to the right of the main entrance area, it has recently undergone a refurbishment and will reopen its doors as a five day service.

Jane Archer, Cancer Care Centre Manager, said:  “We are excited to be reopening this service and look forward to welcoming families and patients, five days a week.

“The service will provide somewhere for people to talk, to access information and to receive help on issues such as finance and benefits – all in one place.  The Citizens’ Advice Bureau will also continue to hold its welfare support service in the unit each Friday (by appointment only).  In the New Year, the Hospital Hairdresser will also provide a hair loss service."
