Emergency Contraception now available from every YorClinic

Did you know that emergency contraception is now available at any YorClinic across York and North Yorkshire?

Monday marked the start of Sexual Health Awareness Week 2014, and this year it’s all about Emergency Contraception and helping make women feel comfortable and confident asking for it.

Virginia Smith, Clinical Services Manager, Sexual Health, HIV and Specialist Outreach Services, explained: “Asking for Emergency Contraception is a responsible choice and no woman should have to feel embarrassed to ask for it.

“During Sexual Health Awareness Week we have been raising awareness that women can confidently walk into any of our YorClinics, not just the ones offering contraception, but also our STI clinics for emergency contraception as our nurses are now trained to provide Emergency Hormonal Contraception – more commonly know as the morning after pill.

“So this week we are actively promoting the availability of emergency hormonal contraception through all of our clinics in York and North Yorkshire, both CaSH and GUM.”

York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of sexual health services throughout North Yorkshire and York to men and women of all ages.
