New hospital governors
New hospital governors have been appointed to the Council of Governors of York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
The newly elected governors will provide a link between the public and staff members, local communities and the Board of Directors of the Trust, and help to ensure that the interests of our communities are represented.
The Council of Governors consists of public governors and staff governors who have been elected by their constituencies from the membership of the Foundation Trust. It also includes nominated representatives from the PCT, Local Authority, University and other partnership organisations.
Chairman of the Trust, Alan Rose, said: "The governors bring a wealth of expertise, experience and ideas which are essential to ensuring the effective development of our NHS Foundation Trust. They ensure that the Trust is managed appropriately, and have a number of key responsibilities including the appointment of the chair, non-executive directors and the Trust's external auditors, and approving the appointment of the chief executive. In addition, following the recent Health Bill, a majority of governors will be required to approve investment decisions of significance."
New governors are:
York - Margaret Jackson and Penelope Worsley
Bridlington - Terry Atherton and James Carder
Scarborough - Sue Wellington and David Wheeler
Whitby - Stephen Hinchliffe
Ryedale and East Yorkshire - Jeannette Anness and Sheila Miller
Selby - Anne Bolland and Andrew Butler
