New information service at Bridlington Hospital

A new welfare benefits information service is being piloted at Bridlington Hospital outpatients department. The service is an initiative developed in partnership between York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Department of Work and Pensions. 

The service will be available on the first Thursday morning  of each month. It allows the opportunity for anyone affected by a long term illness to gain specialist advice on disability benefits and pensions.

A diagnosis of long term illness can be devastating and many patients are faced with money worries because they are unable to work due to their illness or the effects of their treatment. This partnership has allowed patients and their families to have access to a specialist welfare advisor who can demystify the welfare benefits system and help the claimant to apply for relevant disability and welfare benefits. They can also provide up to date  pension advice and sign post to relevant organisations.
