New Years Resolutions – your local charity needs you!

York Teaching Hospital Charity is appealing to the local community to get on board with its fundraising this year.

Maria Humphrey, Fundraising Assistant, said: “You may be looking for inspiration to get fit, want to give something back to your local hospital or may just have some unwanted Christmas presents? These are just some of the ways you can make a difference and get onboard with York Teaching Hospital Charity (YTHC) this year.”

YTHC raises funds to support the work of the York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The Charity plays a vital role in ensuring the best quality of care is provided across the Trust by funding aspects such as life saving and up to date equipment, patient and carer support, additional staff and staff training, research and development and improving and enhancing the hospital environment.

Maria continued: “This year we have places for the York 10K, the Great North Run and the Yorkshire Marathon, so if you need a goal to work towards, this is the perfect opportunity! As well as getting fit and training towards a goal you will be helping to raise essential funds for your local hospital. The Charity also requires volunteers to marshal at these runs, so you could support us, by simply shaking a bucket and collecting loose change.

“We are also on the look-out for books, toys, games, toiletries and accessories to stock its fundraising stalls at various events throughout the year. These might come in the form of unwanted Christmas presents or old items you know longer use.”

For information on any of the runs, volunteering opportunities or gift donations, please email charity.fundraising@york.nhs.uk, call 01904 724521, or pop into the York Teaching Hospital Charity Office, located on the Main Corridor of York Hospital.
