Patients can now browse arts magazine thanks to kind donation

Patients at York and Scarborough Hospitals will now be able to read arts and culture magazine Aesthetica while they wait for their appointment as the magazine has kindly donated a selection of issues to York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Published bi-monthly, Aesthetica Magazine, which is based in York, is a visually stunning mix of photography, debate and stimulating features. It is an essential magazine for readers looking to keep up to date with contemporary art and visual culture.

Kat Hetherington, Arts and Design Development Manager at the Trust, said:  “Aesthetica is a respected voice in the arts world so we were delighted when they got in touch to offer us a selection of their magazines for free of charge.

“Aesthetica engages with the arts both in the UK and internationally, combining dynamic content with compelling critical discussion and exploring the best in visual art, film, music and performance.

“I am sure that it will be welcomed by our patients and visitors and provide a welcome change to the out-of-date gossip magazines which are often left in our waiting areas.

“On behalf of the Trust I would like to thank them for this kind donation. It is great to be partnering with a local organisation to bring arts and culture into our hospital and to our patients.”

Co-founder and Managing Director of Aesthetica Cherie Federico said: “We are delighted to gift a selection of issues of Aesthetica Magazine to York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust for patients to pick up and engage with.

“Aesthetica is a publication that draws you in on many levels, from its striking visual features on icons such as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Cornelia Parker, Barbara Kruger and Paul Smith, to its hot on the pulse articles and reviews of exhibitions, films and performances. It is a bi-monthly publication, each issue with over 150 pages of timeless artwork and editorial, which we hope the patients at York Hospital will really enjoy.”
