Public encouraged to attend the Trust’s board meetings

Local people are being encouraged to attend York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust’s public board meetings.

The role of the trust board is to ensure that the trust delivers high quality healthcare and improves the health of the local population.  The trust's regular public board meetings provide local people with an opportunity to find out more about the NHS trust and the wide range of health services it provides across the patch.  Attending a meeting as an observer is a great opportunity to understand how matters are discussed and how important decisions made.

Susan Symington, chair of York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust said: “The role of our trust board is to ensure that as the local healthcare provider, we are delivering safe, effective care for patients and improving the health of local people.  The board also oversees the performance of the organisation and monitors the way we deliver our services, so that they reflect the needs of the communities we serve.

“Engaging with and being accountable to the local communities we serve is vital to being able to deliver first-rate care for local people.  We therefore actively encourage local residents and patients to come along to our public board meetings to hear about our performance and on-going business.”

The next meeting of the board of directors in public will be on 29 March 2017 at York Hospital Boardroom, starting at 12.00pm.

If you would like to attend one of the trust's board meetings, we ask that you RSVP in advance by emailing Foundation Trust Secretary, Lynda Provins, on lynda.provins@york.nhs.uk

The dates and venues for future board meetings, along with copies of the board papers can be found at on our board of directors pages
