Safe sex game promotes new website

14 April 2011

A tongue-in-cheek viral game is set to penetrate in-boxes across the county in an attempt to raise awareness of a new sexual health website.

The game, called 'Fanny & Jonny's Big Night Out', has been developed by YorSexualHealth to coincide with the launch of their new and improved website:

The website includes details of sexual health services across North Yorkshire and York as well as advice and information on a range of sexual health issues such as contraception, sexually transmitted infections and safe sex. Under 25's can even use the website to request a postal Chlamydia test.

Virginia Smith, Matron for Sexual Health at York Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: "We've been working closely with young people to ensure information about sexual health services in their area is easy to find. Our work highlighted that a lot of people were unsure about where their local sexual health service was and didn't know how to find out.

"The vast majority said they would typically access information online and hence why we've developed this new website.

"Obviously developing the site was just one element - we needed a way to ensure people knew it was there. Our viral game is a fun, innovative way to drive traffic to the website whilst at the same time, promote an important message about safe sex and the importance of always using a condom."
