Satisfaction for Single Point of Access

In April, working in partnership with Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS),York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust launched its ‘Single Point of Access’ (SPA) into adult community services as a six month pilot scheme.

The key objective of the SPA was to ensure the seamless, safe management of referrals for patients requiring Adult Community Nursing Services, either to potentially prevent an admission, support early discharge or coordinate care ‘closer to home.'

The Trust has developed a short film to showcase the work of the SPA.

The film showcases how the SPA:

  • Took 25,000 calls in its first three months,
  • Is answering 97% of calls in under 60 seconds
  • Has a 91% satisfaction rating from its users
  • Is providing community nurses with more time for clinical care, rather than paperwork
