Selby Hospital opens doors to public

Selby Hospital is soon to hold its first ever open day inviting members of the public to find out more about what happens in their local hospital.

The open day will take place on Friday 28 June between 12.00pm and 2.00pm in the main outpatients waiting area in the entrance.

It has been organised as part of a programme of events across the region so that people can find out more about their local health services since becoming part of York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The series of ‘Open Health’ events will feature open days at Selby, York, Scarborough and Bridlington hospitals and a series of road shows at community hospitals.

For the first time visitors will be able to see what makes the hospital tick and can find out about their local services. Staff from the Minor Injuries Unit, outpatients, podiatry, school health and the falls service will be on hand to explain more about their role. People can also find out more about the valuable Musculoskeletal services that operate from Selby Hospital.

Janet Mountain, Events Manager, said: “We would really like to give people the chance to see more of specific services within the hospital. It’s also a perfect opportunity for the public to see inside their local hospital and learn more about the services available. We are also welcoming anyone interested in a career in the NHS so they can find out more first hand by speaking to our staff.”
