Tour de Yorkshire: Plan ahead for hospital visits

The first ever Tour De Yorkshire is taking place from Friday 1 to Sunday 3 May 2015 – Bank Holiday Weekend.

Although the scale of the event is much smaller than the Tour De France, it is still expected to draw crowds of around one million people to our area.

The Trust has been working with partner agencies to prepare for this event and most services will continue to be provided as normal.

We do not anticipate that the Tour de Yorkshire will create any additional pressure on emergency services. However, an influx in visitors to the area may well increase numbers of patients requiring walk-in services and treatment for minor injuries and illnesses.

For non-emergency situations, people should call NHS 111 who will be able to advise on the best action to take.

Anyone with an outpatient appointment at Scarborough, Bridlington or Whitby Hospitals on Friday 1 May should allow extra travel time in case of traffic disruption.

Expectant women are also advised to check the planned road closures (listed below) and to allow plenty of time to get to hospital.
