Trust goes greener as it launches carshare fleet
York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has partnered with Enterprise Rent-A-Car to provide employees with a safer and more efficient business travel programme.
Employees can now use one of ten Enterprise CarShare vehicles based at York Hospital for short business trips in and around the area.
The cars are all white Ford Fiestas (petrol) and are fitted with a start-stop system designed to save fuel.
Richard Vincent, Assistant Director of Estates and Facilities at York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, commented: “York-based staff previously used their own cars to travel for business and reclaimed mileage expenses. This was costly and meant we had little or no control over the roadworthiness of the vehicles being used."
All staff who would otherwise use their own vehicle or public transport to travel on Trust business are eligible to register for the Enterprise pool cars and are encouraged to use them.
Scarborough Hospital already has a fleet of pool cars which is a popular and well used scheme for staff who need to travel from the hospital on work business.
Notes to Editors:

As part of its travel and transport strategy the Trust is focussed on reducing the environmental impact of transport, including unnecessary travel.
