Trust seeks candidate for non-executive director role

A new non-executive director is being sought to join the Board of York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Non-executive directors play a vital role in the effective governance of the trust, providing independence and challenge, as well as support and a total commitment to the enduring values of the National Health Service.

With a recognised financial qualification, this non-executive director will not only play their part as a director of the board, but will also be Chair of the Audit Committee.  Applicants are likely to be familiar with complex financial environments, be naturally tenacious and have a very keen eye for detail.

Trust Chair, Sue Symington explains more: “Non-executive directors play a crucial role in bringing an independent perspective to the boardroom, in addition to any specific knowledge and skills they may have.

“We’ve got an exciting and challenging agenda ahead and we’re looking for an exceptional individual to join our board and contribute their skills and expertise to develop healthcare for our local community and beyond.

“The NHS is facing some fundamental challenges and the future will be about organisations working together to deliver the best quality experience and outcomes for patients in a sustainable way.  We have already started this journey and are pioneering new ventures and new ways of working.”

The successful candidate will need to be available approximately 5 days a month.

The closing date for applicants is 28 November 2016.  Assessment centre and interviews will be held 19-20 December 2016; candidates need to be available on both these dates.

To be eligible to apply, you will need to be a member of the trust www.yorkhospitals.nhs.uk/get_involved/membership.
