Cancer Care Review

A Cancer Care Review (CCR) is a discussion between a patient and their GP/practice nurse about their cancer journey. It helps the person affected by cancer understand how their GP practice can support them and for them to open up about their cancer experience. This appointment usually takes place within 6 months of diagnosis.

When having a CCR some patients may be accompanied by a family friend or carer and, with permission from the patient, they can act as an advocate when discussing their care. A carer can often help turn any recommendations into manageable solutions for the person they care for.

Benefits of a Cancer Care Review:

  • It provides an opportunity for a patient to address their concerns
  • Gain on going support and information
  • It enables the GP to understand someone's cancer journey and help to manage any long term effects
  • Patients who are supported by their GP can self manage and achieve a good quality of life

For more information please ask your GP practice.
