Clinical Indication | Collagens are the major structural proteins of all connective tissues. There are 14 different types of collagen, dependant on the genetic origin and the structural characteristics. Type II collagen belongs to a group of fibrillar collagens that make up the fibrils in most connective tissues. Collagen type II antibodies may be associated with active rheumatoid arthritis or relapsing perichondritis, however they are of uncertain diagnostic or clinical utility. |
