Once we have received your application we will arrange an interview for you within your chosen area. We will always endeavour to offer you a role in your preferred area, so simply submit your application telling us your top three choices.

We guarantee you a first rate induction, access to a range of development programmes and an excellent staff benefits package including the following:

Pre-Registered Nurses who have completed their degree and are awaiting NMC registration will be paid at AfC Band 5.

The Trust will pay for your NMC registration fee.

You may be eligible for financial support of up to £750 if you are relocating to join our Trust.

Refer a friend scheme; Once employed by us, you could receive a £250 payment if you refer a nurse to us who subsequently takes up employment in our Trust (paid after the new starter completes 4-months in post).

Registered Nurses

For qualified nurses looking for a change, look no further. The Trust offers the prospect of being able to demonstrate experience and skills in a fast-paced ever-changing environment, as well as access to a huge range of learning and training opportunities, and support from a ward based mentor.

Pre-Registered Nurses

For Pre-Registered Nurses, we offer a fantastic supportive 12 month preceptorship programme.

As an organisation we understand that we need to support you in your first nursing role and help you transition from a Pre-Registered Nurse to a Staff Nurse. We support our Pre-Registered Nurses by offering a preceptorship which will help you transition into your new role seamlessly.

As a graduating nurse joining our Trust, you will be supported by a dedicated preceptor to help you attain the competencies in your chosen clinical area. To enable this, we offer a week of core training concentrating on the key clinical skills you require in your role. Following on from this, we also offer study days throughout your first 12 months in post, as well as regular access to our senior nursing team. We are fully committed to supporting your transition from a student to a Registered Nurse.

We also also offer a wide range of benefits which you can view by visiting the Trust's dedicated Staff Benefits pages.

Career progression

Meet Susan, one our nursing staff who is here to tell you about her career progression and what opportunities she has been offered here in our Trust

At York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, we provide a comprehensive range of acute hospital and specialist healthcare services for approximately 530,000 people living in and around York, North Yorkshire, North East Yorkshire and Ryedale - an area covering 3,400 square miles.

One of the great benefits of coming to work for our Trust is the opportunity to live in York, North Yorkshire or the North East Yorkshire Coast. Did you know? Months after being named as the best place to live in the UK by the Sunday Times, a new poll completed in August 2018 has revealed York is the country's favourite city.

York is internationally renowned for its beauty and heritage. Its city centre, made famous by the iconic Minster and Shambles, is a bustling and vibrant hub for a range of activities. Scarborough is a vibrant seaside resort on the East Coast of Yorkshire set in beautiful countryside.  The local industries include agriculture, fishing and tourism. Scarborough is one of the top ten tourist destinations in England, attracting more than one million visitors during the summer months.

We really look forward to receiving your application and working with you in the future.
