The Trust actively promotes careers in healthcare to all students, the criteria for us to consider are as follows:
That you firstly need to be studying within the local catchment area, which is approximate within 30 miles of the hospital site, and within this the trust priority is to then offer placements to students studying at schools or colleges within this catchment that are aged 14 to 18 (i.e. years 10 to 13).
Applicants applying from schools must be a minimum age of 14 and in Year 10 and must apply through their individual school placement process. School's requesting work experience placements will need to contact the recruitment team directly to establish what opportunities are available as these will only be none clinical area’s within the hospital, e.g. administrative roles.
College/Sixth Form students must apply in conjunction with their college/school or email directly to our designated email address. All applicants must complete an application pack which they can obtain from their college tutor or careers advisor or by request via our email address below.
Prior to the start of a placement, each student is screened by our Occupational Health department and two satisfactory references must be obtained by the student at application stage.
Placements vary and can be negotiated within most areas of the hospital; however the trust operates on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. If a student has a particular career in mind, the Trust will endeavour to provide a relevant placement, however placements are never guaranteed.
If you are interested in arranging a work experience placement for someone of school age within the York area, please email the recruitment team at email@example.com
You can apply to participate in work experience at the Trust if you live within a 30 mile radius of our hospitals.
