Visiting

We are pleased that our visiting has reverted back to pre-pandemic guidance, with the exception of the high risk areas identified below.

We understand how important it is for patients to remain connected with their family, friends and carers when they come into hospital and we recognise the valuable contribution that visiting makes to their wellbeing.

We support visiting for at least one hour per day, and longer for patients where it is appropriate and necessary to assist their communication and/or to meet their health, care, emotional, religious, or spiritual care needs.

We ask for no more than two visitors at a time, and in addition, while the community prevalence of Covid-19 is high, we ask that all visitors wear a surgical face mask which helps keep our vulnerable patients safe.  These are freely available in the entrance to our hospital sites.

Before visiting we encourage visitors to undertaken a lateral flow test. These can be ordered online. We will not ask to see the result but we urge visitors not to come if they test positive or if they are showing any symptoms of Covid-19.

Our high risk wards currently include Covid wards, when open, and the intensive care units at York and Scarborough hospitals; wards 31 and 33, York Hospital; and Juniper Ward at Scarborough Hospital.
