In May, the York Biochemistry team faced a major equipment failure, halting their ability to analyse critical tests. Despite the crisis, the team remained calm, informed clinical teams, and arranged for samples to be tested at Scarborough laboratory to minimise delays.

Scarborough staff excelled, handling the extra workload, and working extra hours to support York. Even after resolving the issue, York staff volunteered for overtime to clear the backlog, ensuring no patient samples were missed.

Transport colleagues, including Bloodfast, provided urgent blue light runs for critical samples, while Roche engineers swiftly repaired equipment. This situation highlighted the team's dedication and collaboration across the sites.

Effective communication and seamless business continuity planning resulted in minimal service disruption. Well done to all involved!
