In December, staff on the ward were looking after a patient at the end of their life, who had unfortunately become too unwell to be discharged.

The family had said that Christmas was the patient's favourite time of year, so staff on the ward sent out a message to colleagues, asking for decorations to be brought in from home. The next day, the patient was moved to a side room which was full of Christmas decorations and the sound of Christmas music.

The patient died later that evening in an environment that will have brought them comfort. The family were extremely grateful for what the staff had done for them and their family.
