What to expect when you attend the Medical Elective Suite

The Medical Elective Suite (MES) is situated on the first floor, above the Outpatient Department at York Hospital.  It is an outpatient treatment area, which provides treatment for patients under the care of all specialities.  It is run by Sister Laura Rycroft and Deputy Sister Stephanie Twine, who work with a team of staff nurses, health care assistants and a clerical officer, Samuel Calpin.

MES works closely with the Gastroenterology Consultants and Specialist nurses and once referred for treatment an appointment will be sent out.

The services available on MES nurse led Biological infusions, which include Infliximab and Vedolizumab.  Patients are also referred to the department if they need to have an intravenous iron infusion for anaemia related to their Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
