The Ophthalmology Service

The Ophthalmology service encompasses a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Medical Retina
  • Corneal Conditions
  • Ocular Plastics
  • Ocular Motility
  • Paediatrics
  • Vitreo-Retinal

The service also has various research portfolios conducting investigations into eye health and eye related diseases.

The Trust offer ophthalmic services across York and the East Coast at the following locations:

There is also a diabetic screening service within the community run by the North Yorkshire Diabetic Screening Service who operate across the York and East Coast area.

The York Ophthalmology Department

The Ophthalmology Department in York is located at Junction 3 along the main corridor. If entering via the main entrance, make your way to the main corridor, turn left and immediately on your right is the entrance to the eye department.

The Scarborough Ophthalmology Department

The Scarborough Ophthalmology Department is located along the main corridor of the south wing of the hospital. If you enter the hospital through the main entrance in the south wing, head through the double doors on the right hand side, turn right down the main corridor and take the first right off the main corridor. At the end of the next corridor turn right again into Reception B waiting area.

Our Sight Support Service provides non-medical practical and emotional support for patients across the Trust who are experiencing sight difficulties:
