Reference Interval | Interpretation of results depends on the clinical scenario of the request and therefore reference ranges are not provided with results. Instead, an automatic comment directing users to an information document for interpretation of results is added to all reports. |
Limitations | Icterus: Presence of bilirubin in concentrations up to 50 mg/dL. Haemolysis: Presence of haemoglobin in concentrations up to 300 mg/dL . Lipaemia: Presence of triglycerides in concentrations up to 2000 mg/dL . The assay is unaffected by biotin (<246 nmol/L or <60 ng/mL). No interference was observed from rheumatoid factors up to a concentration of 1200 IU/mL. Samples should not be taken from patients receiving therapy with high biotin doses (i.e. > 5 mg/day) until at least 8 hours following the last biotin administration. In vitro tests were performed on 16 commonly used pharmaceuticals. No interference with the assay was found. In rare cases, high titres of antibodies to analyte specific antibodies, streptavidin or ruthenium can occur. Effects minimised by assay design. |
