Ear, nose and throat (Otolaryngology)

The Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Department provides specialist medical and surgical investigation and treatment for a comprehensive range of adult and paediatric elective ear, nose and throat conditions.

There are specialist clinics for voice, balance, thyroid and parathyroid disease, head and neck oncology and nurse led ear suction clinics.

We deal with all aspects of ENT from minor procedures, emergency services to major complex head and neck surgery for patients with cancer.

We have close relationships with Hull and Leeds Hospitals for the management of major complex cases.

The ENT department provides 24 hour emergency care at York Hospital, taking transfers from Harrogate Hospital and Scarborough Hospital. Operations are carried out at:

The consultants, secretaries offices and the outpatient clinics are located in the Head and Neck Unit, at the north end of the hospital on the first floor of junction 1A.
Our adult inpatients are on Ward 26.
Our paediatric patients are on Ward 17.
