A gastroscopy or upper gastro-intestinal (GI) endoscopy is an examination of your gullet, stomach and upper intestine using an endoscope. The procedure is also known as gastroscopy. An endoscope is a flexible tube with very small lenses and a light attached to the end of it. The procedure is carried out by someone with special training called an endoscopist.
