Our services

Cancer support and information services 

The Cancer Support and Information team are here for anyone affected by cancer; the patient, their families or anyone supporting them. We can offer information resources, details on therapies and hair loss and signpost to both local and national services that can be of help. The team are also here to offer a listening ear and to help support you throughout.

Our Cancer Support and Information services are based in:
Scarborough, just inside the main entrance at Scarborough Hospital.
York, situated alongside the entrance to the Magnolia Entrance, opposite the multi-storey care par. The centre has temporarily closed to drop-in access but advice and support can be accessed by calling the contact details below.

Please note that during the pandemic, the York site have temporarily closed the centre for face to face contact.  We are however, still here to help in any way we can so please get in touch to find out what services are available or if you would like to talk over the phone.

Support offered

Information Services

We offer a range of information resources covering most aspects of dealing with a diagnosis and living with and beyond cancer.

There are leaflets and booklets available and we can sign post you to other online resources; these include psychological support for teenagers, family support, speaking to your loved ones about your diagnosis and more.

Cancer Care Map

The Cancer Care Map website is a nationwide online directory of cancer care services.

Financial and citizens advice and support

If you need support around your individual financial circumstances we can direct you to:

  • an experienced benefits advisor from the local council
  • financial support services
  • support advice for patients in and out of work
  • citizens advice

Hair loss support

Support and advice for various types of hair loss concerns including wigs, head wear, head shaving and more.

Health and wellbeing

There are many ways to improve your quality of life and help you cope with any side effects of cancer and its treatments including activity and dietary advice.

Wellbeing and support calls

The Cancer Support teams Wellbeing Service can offer emotional and practical support to anyone affected by a cancer diagnosis.

Talking to someone

Talking about your experience can be difficult but sometimes speaking to someone outside of your own family and friends can be helpful. We can help with:

  • connecting with other people going through similar situations
  • bereavement or counselling services
  • national support groups, self-help groups and support helplines.
