Becoming an NHS patient

Becoming an NHS patient at our Trust is a simple process. If you are suffering from pain and reduced mobility, your first step is speaking to your GP.

They will decide what treatment options there are for your condition, such as physiotherapy or lifestyle and dietary changes. They may refer you to an MSK (musculoskeletal) physiotherapy service who will work with you to help reduce your pain and improve your mobility.

However, if you require your surgery, your GP or MSK practitioner will refer you to our service and we will ensure you see an appropriate consultant.

You can choose to see a consultant in a clinic nearest to your home or where the shortest wait for an appointment may be. Your GP will have access to this information.

Once you have been seen outpatients, and you and your consultant have agreed that surgery is the best treatment option for your condition, you will be added to the waiting list for surgery.
