Elective surgical admissions at York Hospital

Ward 27 is the Elective Surgical Admissions Unit. Patients having elective surgery will be admitted on the day of surgery. They will be seen by the surgeon anaesthetist and nursing staff prior to going to theatre. Admission times are 7.30am (morning and all day lists) 11.00am for the afternoon lists.

Due to the privacy and dignity of patients we do not allow relatives to stay unless this has been arranged prior to admission with the ward sister, we do however try to accommodate relatives if this is requested.

Once patients have had their surgery they will go to a main ward within the hospital for recovery.
