Welcome to the Labour Ward

The Labour Ward team at York Hospital care for all women opting to birth in hospital. Women are seen in the Maternity Triage on admission. From there, a plan is made with you regarding your on-going care in labour.

You can contact the Maternity Triage to speak to a midwife once you think you labour has begun and/or if you have any bleeding or your waters have broken and/or you have any other concerns about yourself or your baby.

York maternity triage: 01904 726869

When you come to the hospital you will need to provide your own transport.

Bring your pregnancy notes with you; we will need them when you come in.

Use the Our Hospitals pages for additional help with planning your journey.

The accommodation on Labour Ward is arranged in single rooms, some with en-suite provision. The rooms can be adapted to support your plans for birth; from an active birth through to interventions such as an epidural.
