Why are tickets allocated through a random draw instead of on a first come, first served basis?
To ensure the scheme is fair and accessible to all staff, tickets are allocated through a random draw rather than on a first come, first served basis. We recognise that not all employees work standard office hours or have regular access to emails and computers during the working day. A random draw gives everyone an equal opportunity to apply within the application window, regardless of their role, working pattern, shift times, annual leave, or access to technology.
Who can apply for the subsidised theatre tickets?
The scheme is only open to employees of York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Employment checks will be made.
How many tickets can I apply for?
Successful applicants can purchase a maximum of two subsidised tickets per venue.
If I'm successful in the draw, can I buy extra tickets?
Yes. If you require additional tickets, these can be purchased directly from the venue at the standard ticket price, subject to availability.
Can I apply for more than one venue?
Yes. You may apply for as many participating venues as you wish, but you must complete a separate application form for each venue.
Can I submit more than one application for the same venue?
No. Only one application per person, per venue is permitted. Duplicate applications will be removed and you will be excluded from the draw.
How are tickets allocated?
Successful applicants are selected at random from all eligible applications received before the closing date.
When will I find out if I have been successful?
Successful applicants will be contacted by email on the date stated on the application form.
Will I be contacted if I am unsuccessful?
No. Unsuccessful applicants will not be contacted. However, if tickets remain available after the initial allocation, additional draws may take place.
What if I miss the email?
It is your responsibility to check your inbox, including junk and spam folders. If you do not respond or purchase your tickets within the specified timeframe, your tickets may be reallocated to another applicant.
How long do I have to purchase my tickets?
Successful applicants will normally have 72 hours (3 days) to purchase their tickets. Any final reallocation rounds may have a shorter purchase window.
Can I request specific seats?
No. Seating and ticket allocation are managed entirely by the venue. Staff Benefits cannot influence seating locations or make changes to allocated seats.
Who do I contact with ticket or seating queries?
Any queries regarding seating, accessibility requirements, ticket locations, or performance details should be directed to the venue after you have purchased your tickets.
Can I change my performance date after purchasing tickets?
Any requests to change dates, seats, or tickets are subject to the venue's terms and conditions and must be discussed directly with the venue.
What happens if there are tickets left after the first draw?
Additional allocation rounds will take place until all tickets have been allocated. Information about any further draws will be promoted via Staff Benefits communications, including social media and the Champions network.
Can I transfer my tickets to someone else?
Tickets are intended for the successful applicant and their guest. Any ticket transfers will be subject to the venue's own terms and conditions.
Can Staff Benefits reserve tickets for me or extend payment deadlines?
No. To ensure fairness for all applicants, Staff Benefits cannot reserve tickets, influence allocations, or extend payment deadlines.
Who can I contact if I have a question about the scheme?
Please contact the Staff Benefits Team before the application closing date if you have any questions about the application process or eligibility.
